Good Neighbors Kenya increased access to safe drinking water to enhance health and quality of life for children and communities by building water well and wash facilities. In addition, we educate children and their families on drinking water and sanitation practices so that they can have a better understanding of personal and public hygiene.
Lack of clean water and poor hygiene increase diseases. When people don't have access to basic sanitation, the problem is exacerbated by the fact that human waste is discharged into rivers without any treatment.
We provide adequate sanitation to avoid disease transmission and ensure proper hygiene. Clean and safe toilets at schools allow students to focus on their education, so they do not have to go looking for a washroom. It also makes things easier for girls dealing with period poverty, by giving them a place to maintain menstrual hygiene and make sure their periods do not affect their school attendance.
We build rainwater storage tanks and water supply facilities to provide children and residets. We also make alternative sanitary pad with girls to build awareness about hygine education and gender equality. We also work with community members to ensure they live in a conducive environment through community clean ups and tree planting activities. Good Neighbors organizes health education programs for people to learn about how essential it is to avoid drinking water from contaminated sources, using it to cook or doing other domestic tasks.
